My Crested Gecko Familia Understructable

(Chikitika 4 years old -The mama-)
Good cloudy day ! So I thought I could introduce my Crested Gecko family. Crested Geckos also called Rhacodactylus ciliatus are lizards  of about 8 inches ( with the tail ) they are tropical and has to be kept in a temperature of idealy 24 to 28 degree celcius (pretty much your daily home temperature) with a humidity of 70 to 80 % (just spray water 2 times a day with a proper substrat and it's done). Of course all the equipement may cost from 100 to 200 $ without the gecko but they are a nice breed to look at and hold. The gecko themselves varies alot depending on the patterns, colors and other rare features but with 60-100$ you can get a nice offspring or juvenile.
(Sandro 3 years old - Papa-)
* This biting wasn't to hurt, it was for mating. . .Yeh I know, why my hand ? *

As for the vivarium or terrarium (the gecko's habitat) you can actualy make one yourself if you or your family have been keeping some old furnitures or just are a handyman (there are alot of tutorials with cheap new materials on reptile forums). My grand-father was actualy a clockworker and jeweler so he had alot of display cabinet, so I retransformed two of those into 3 habitats (1 of the cabinet was large enough for two offspring) and thus saved about 300 $. Of course I admit my father helped, being a young lady I don't really have these aptitudes.
( Eugene, 1 year old - the oldest son -)
      * You might not see it, but Eugene lost his tail, it won't grow back like some other geckos but it is not something critical for them, in their life span, the chance for this to happen are kind of high. . . He is still cute *

So once you have the habitat and the gecko you just need some decorations for the lizard to hide and once again you can do alot without paying again like finding drift wood, cook it to kill bugs and bacteria, etc. Also if you feel more fancy you can put real plants in the habitat which makes a huge difference in the beauty of the environnement.

Once you have it all, the cost to maintain such an animal is awesomely low ! Substrate is cheap, and need to be changed once a month, food is cheap (crickets and Crested Gecko Diet), and daily cares are really not taking alot of times.

When I started getting into Crested Gecko I fell on this magnificient website http://www.jbscresties.com/, JB is a women breeding and giving A LOT of pertinent informations, she has a youtube channel with alot of informative videos, she also has really nice critters to sell ( if I would live in the USA I would have bought from her ). She has given me nice advice through mails when I was incubating my first eggs and when they hatched, so if you feel an interest in Crested Geckos, she is to me, a must see.
(and at last Yuri, 1 years old - the younger sister)
             * This photo was taken 2 weeks after she hatched, just to show you how a offspring can look like *

So comments if you want informations or just talk !
Have a nice day !
